It’s time to get ready – Starting January 11, 2019, the Puget Sound region will experience the longest closure of a major highway when WSDOT closes the Alaskan Way Viaduct to complete the work needed to open the SR 99 tunnel three weeks later. This period is being called the “Seattle Squeeze”. Everyone traveling in the region will be impacted.

The City Purchasing and Contracting Services (CPCS) of the Department of Finance and Administrative Services will consider this impact when scheduling procurement or contracting related meetings or events such as pre-bid/submittal conferences and bid or proposal deadlines, endeavoring to schedule such events after 9:00 AM or prior to 3:00 PM. Please review project specific solicitation notices for instructions regarding scheduling. The City encourages its vendors, contractors, and consultants to plan accordingly to ensure ability to attend procurement meetings and satisfy required deadlines for bid or proposal submission.
